I phoned Furnace Dr. on a very cold Friday night at 7pm. Sam G. came over immediately to look at my situation. Sam tried his best to obtain the part needed for my furnace but was unable to find one that would work in an efficient manner. He gave us sound advice and came back early on Saturday morning to install the necessary part after he was able to obtain it from the supply warehouse. He did a very nice job and was extremely courteous, friendly and efficient. .I will recommend Sam to my friends, family and relatives. He treated us very fair with the billing! My A/C unit had been running excessively last summer and the bills had crept up, so I had the Furnace Doctors come out for a maintenance check-up on a warmer day during the Spring. The technician arrived when scheduled, inspected and cleaned the unit, and identified a component that was failing and that could explain the poor performance last season. We just had our first very hot weekend and the A/C unit was back to running for more normal intervals. Everything done was explained very clearly and the restored A/C unit's performance should easily cover in the first month the very reasonable cost of the preventative maintenance and component replacement. He went above and beyond normal duties and even advised us on how to keep our heating/cooling costs low in the future. "I was hearing a droning sound from my air conditioner in the kitchen of my house in Urbana. I called Sam of the Furnace Doctors in Champaign at 9 am on a Friday because I had used his services a couple of years ago, and he had done a good job. Sam showed up at about 1 pm and checked both the outside and inside A/C units. He found no problem, although he agreed that there was a repetitive sound in my kitchen not heard outside or in the basement. I agreed that we could hear the sound only in the kitchen. We concluded that it was an air duct or other part of my house that was vibrating at a certain frequency in sympathy with the outside compressor motor. Since there was no problem with my fairly new A/C unit, and Sam had not done any repair work, he didn't charge me for the service call. That was a great price for getting peace of mind that there was nothing wrong with my A/C unit."
